The Black Beetle

I realize that I’m a “Johnny Come Lately” to things, but as prices of single issue comics are sky high (as much as $3.99 or more) I usually wait and buy a trade collecting many issues into one volume. Having said that, I can’t wait to tell you about how cool this one is…

This is The Black Beetle, a collection of Francesco Francavilla’s single issues of the “No Way Out” storyline. Done in a wonderful pulp style (one of my favorite settings 1900s-40s), The Black Beetle is a rad addition to such pulp heroes as The Shadow, the Phantom, and The Spider!

I would love a Black Beetle action figure! I would display him next to my Lobster Johnson figure (created by Mike Mignola).
So if anyone ever reads this, then get on that for me!

Doctor Sleep

Stephen King has a new novel out today entitled Doctor Sleep!

I could not be more excited about this, as it is a continuation of one of my all time favorite books, The Shining!
Revisiting the character Danny Torrance (now Dan Torrance), still fighting the good fight as best he can against murderous paranormals. Now a mentor to a young girl, gifted with the Shining herself, as he was once mentored by Dick Hallorann.

A great start for Autumn in my opinion. Now all I need is a pot of coffee, some chilly weather and the smell of wood smoke in the air!

This is another example of my being VERY late to the party, you’ll get that on here, as there are several sets of these. The Simpson Family, Zombie Simpson Family,The Nuclear Plant set, Tree House of Horror, Krusty the Klown Show, Springfield Elementary, a Best of Homer, and a Best of Bart……I think thats it?

The wonderful thing about these figures, in my opinion, is how flat they are! They look so cool like this. I like seeing sometimes off-model versions of characters!

I’m missing Smithers and the accessories for this set…just FYI.

Last year, around this same time, before Heroes Convention I created a mini comic based on these little guys…

He created one of the characters from the comic!
Just recently, he found four more toys from the same toy line. Oddly enough almost exactly the same time last year that I found the first four. He sent them to me, being the rad guy that he is!

Did you notice that he altered one of those guys as well? The dude with the ball and chain hand? Cool, right?
YEP!!!
I consider these guys the villains. Very soon I’ll start work on the mini-comic about them……
